Taking care of your mental health
Most victims of violence struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)—the same condition that soldiers returning from war struggle with.
Most of them will never receive help. And a significant number will decide to end their lives.
That's why, at ECI, we prioritize public mental health.
More about our work for mental health:
Mental health is an integral part of human health and one of the foundations of a dignified life.
The modern world faces many challenges that have a profound impact on people's mental well-being. Violence, loneliness, social exclusion, poverty, uncertainty, family crises, and long-term stress are among the most serious social problems of the 21st century.
Unfortunately, in many countries, access to specialized psychiatric and psychological care remains limited. Long waits, a lack of specialists, and high treatment costs prevent many people from receiving help when they need it most.
European Center International believes that access to appropriate psychiatric care and specialized treatment should not be a privilege, but a right for every person.
Therefore, one of our commitments is to support efforts to:
• provide a universal, rapid, and accessible mental health care system;
• shorten wait times for specialist care;
• ensure equal access to treatment regardless of place of residence or financial situation;
• support mental health prevention;
• combat loneliness and social exclusion;
• increasing public awareness of mental health;
• combating the stigma surrounding individuals seeking psychiatric and psychological care.
We believe that asking for help is a sign of courage, not weakness.
We also believe that no person should be left alone with their suffering.
Therefore, we want to support the creation of societies in which everyone can count on respect, understanding, and professional help when they need it most.
